ckenzie Boekholder, Technical Assistance Coordinator, works directly with NESFP program farmers and staff, helping to develop NESFP's pilot Transitioning Farmer Program. McKenzie, together with NESFP staff, is responsible for coordinating and developing this new initiative that works to help farmers begin their own viable farm business over the course of 3 years. During her tenure in Zambia as a Peace Corps Volunteer, McKenzie developed and administered an Independent Farmer Program. McKenzie lived in rural Zambia and worked for the Zambian Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture as a Fisheries Extension Agent.
Over the course of two and a half years, she designed a program and developed a curriculum that taught rural farmers how to be successful fish farmers, with an emphasis on small business promotion. 12 farmers were graduated from the program, their success and competency was formally recognized by the Zambian Department of Fisheries and Peace Corps Officials. McKenzie has had experience in organic food production for market, and holds a BA in American Studies and Environmental Studies from Brandies University.
