Ethan grew up around agriculture in the rolling hills of Iowa, but opted to study Latin American History at the University of Iowa. After graduating, he moved to northern Nicaragua for 10 months to work on rural development projects in a region of the country renowned for its organic coffee production. Once back in the United States, he worked with a non-profit organization supporting community gardeners in the outer boroughs of New York City for a year before going to graduate school at the University of California, Davis to study International Agricultural Development. When not at work, Ethan loves to weld, play and watch sports, brew his own beer, and spend time with his girlfriend, dog, and cat.
