Farm Business Planning
If you have taken the Explore Farming! course, and have decided that you want to start your own farming business, the Farm Business Planning Course is your next step. This course meets in the evenings once a week, and will be offered twice every year, beginning in October and in January. See the Course Syllabus for more detail. The course fee is $250, and you may be eligible for a tuition waiver of between $50 – $200, depending on your need.
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Select farm enterprises, and develop business plans and enterprise budgets;
- Identify and research the markets in your area, and how to promote your farm products;
- Find and evaluate the materials, equipment, and additional information and resources you will need as a farmer; and
- Develop a crop plan and schedule that follows your marketing and business plans.
