Emily's Journey: Having earned a Culinary Arts degree and gained eight seasons of hands-on experience on various organic diversified vegetable farms, Emily decided to build on her experiences from large-scale production, small-scale, and hunger relief farms. Stepping into 2024, Emily reflects, “Owning my own farm is surreal. I've planted seeds, both literally and metaphorically, and I'm ready for the laughs, successes, failures, and lots of trial and error. I've poured my heart and soul into this farm and can't wait to see it grow!”
Community Nourishment: Sow and Savor Farm is on a mission to nourish the community with healthy food while making it accessible to all. Emily emphasizes the importance of the local food system and actively works towards minimizing food waste. By partnering with Boston Area Gleaners and Nourishing the North Shore, accepting SNAP and HIP benefits, and practicing regenerative and organic methods, Emily ensures the production of nutrient-dense products.
The Sow and Savor - CSA Experience: Sow and Savor Farm offers a thoughtfully curated CSA. Conveniently located at Unpacked Living in Beverly, pick-ups will be available on Thursdays from 11 am to 6 pm. Each week's share will include 7-10 types of produce, varying with the seasons. From spring greens to fall ginger and turmeric, the CSA promises a vibrant array of fresh, locally grown delights.
Market Presence: Beyond CSA, Emily will be present at Salem's Farmers Market and plans to supply local Farm-to-Table restaurants. Her commitment to community growth extends to building a community around vegetables. Emily expresses, “This adventure will be filled with highs and lows, and I'm ready. I'm excited to grow not just veggies but a community around them, and I can't wait to share the harvest with all of you!”
Get Involved: Join us in supporting Emily's mission! If you're in the Beverly vicinity, consider signing up for a CSA share or purchasing a share to give to a family in need. Additionally, Sow and Savor Farm produce will be available through New Entry’s Food Hub distribution sites in Boston downtown, Medford, Cambridge-Somerville, and Beverly.
Here's to 2024 – a year of growth and new beginnings with Sow and Savor Farm!
