Lacinato Kale Gratin


  • 3 medium buches lacinato kale, ribs removed, torn roughly 3 in pieces
  • 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • freshly cracked pepper
  • 3 cups heavy cream (or substitute milk)
  • 8 oz of cheddar cheese


Preheat the oven to 350F

Put kale in a 9 x 13in baking dish (it will seem like an overabundance of kale, towering above pan's edge)

Season kale with nutmeg, salt and pepper

Drizzle the cream over it

Spread out the cheese over the kale

Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour

Outer shell of kale will crisp up

Let gratin cool for a few minutes, then serve
